THE LAW OF ATTRACTION

I'm sure you know the concept. Since the
release of the Secret movie it has spread
like a wildfire.

1. Think of what you want
2. Visualize it in detail and add strong
positive emotions to your visualization.
3. Vuala! Your dream magically comes to
life.

Great concept.

Too bad it doesn't always work like this.

Have you ever thought what is the one
single reason why LoA works for some
people and doesn't work for others?

Why it works in some cases and in some cases it
doesn't?

What's missing from this simple 3-step
process?

.
.
.
Remember your answer, we'll talk about it
later.

Now, meet Jonna.

She has 2 kids, ex-husband and a dream.

Dream car.

It's perfect, it's exactly what she wants
and it's expensive. (of course)

So she sets on a 'law of attraction'
mission.

She finds the same model and color in a
matchbox-size and keeps it on her desks.

Everyone knows that's her dream car and
kids exclaim 'mommy's dream car!' every
time they see someone driving it.

Time passes, nothing happens.

The believers in LOA try to find what
she's doing wrong

(I don't know how you can go wrong in
3-step process)

'you don't let go properly'
'you are not open-minded'
'your emotions are not strong enough'

Well, the emotions are strong enough
alright.

This car becomes the whole family dream.
Jonna's daughter sees it while driving
with her father and exclaims:

'Look daddy! It's mommy's dream car!'

'You need to stop saying things like that.
Unless mommy has this kind of money laying
around it won't be happening.'

The dream is squashed.

Kids are devastated.

Jonna is devastated as well.

She is afraid that if she won't get this car it
would damage her children's ability to
dream and make things happen.

So she decides to make this dream car a
reality.

MY DREAM CAR

So, Jonna sets her mind to make her dream car a
reality.

She asks herself a simple question:

"What's stopping me from attaining my dream car?"

The answer comes instantly:

'It is too expensive and I'll never be able to
afford it.'

Jonna keeps digging:

'Well, what if it weren't true?'

'Well, then this would be an affordable car that
I could get. '

From this point Jonna stops thinking of it "as my
expensive dream car".

She calls it "the car I can afford to buy"

Let Jonna tell you what happened next:

"One day, I happened to open the paper to the car
classified, which I never normally did. And saw
my dream car listed in the used car section. I
had been going to dealerships previously and knew
they were still out of my budget and was just
waiting for them to come down more at price.

So as I read a classified ad, I noticed the price
seemed too low, and that made me call the seller.
Come to find out, it was the correct price, lower
than bluebook, yet a steal of a car!

I called my bank, and was afraid they would still
tell me it's too much, but instead they told me
to go pick it up. I'm still driving this car
today, and I absolutely love it!

I can tell you that when I drove home in this
car - in the color I had dreamed of having -
something short of a miracle happened with my
children's attitude. I just showed them that
dreams CAN happen and their faces were lit up as
if I just performed magic!

Oh, and yes, I did feel great pleasure the first
time I pulled up to my ex's home when picking up
my daughter and seeing his face in shock as to
what I was driving."

Remember I asked you what is the reason Law of Attraction works in some cases and doesn't work in others?

Simple.

It doesn't work when you have a limiting belief
that contradicts with what you're trying to
achieve.

Jonna's limiting belief was that the car is too
expensive for her. This belief stood in a way of
making her dream a reality. Once she identified
this limiting belief she was able to change it.

The problem is that 99% of the cases we are not
aware of our limiting beliefs.

Do you have a dream but you feel that something
stands in your way? Sometimes it feels that the
universe doesn't want it to come true for you.

Well, there are probably some limiting beliefs
involved.

PEACE

Temporary And Permanent Sources Of Peace

It's a common notion (idea) to think of peace as being closely related to the beauty of nature - the play of waves on a beach, the blowing of wind through a forest, the soaring and swooping of sea gulls; in short, anything away from the rush and hurry of the city. Alternatively we associate peace with some physical form of relaxation like headphones plugged into soothing music, freshening up after a hard day, a brisk walk in the park, etc. In meditation we realize peace to be our very essence (nature); we realize very quickly, trying to extract peace from the world around us or even from some physical sensations in our own bodies gives us only a temporary experience of it.

Once we start meditating, we start to see physical relaxation as an escape from tension and not a solution for it; and the beautiful scenes of nature now no longer as sources radiating permanent peace. But in fact it is their mere absence of conflict, their harmony of colours, forms and sounds which appeal to us. There is something in each of us which cries out to be free from conflict. We discover that small voice or need is only our true nature demanding to be recognized. We realize that neither the body nor nature can give the peace that the soul was longing for, but it has to be tapped from within. Having found it, it remains constant, whether in the city or or on a hill station, in comfort or discomfort. In the midst of noise and confusion, peace is really our own.

BLESSINGS

“COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS”

I know some of you hate math but when it comes to counting there is nothing as exciting as adding all your blessings in the midst of your burdens. You will discover that your counting will never end. Many times we only look at the situation and fail to see the sweet blessings.

Quote: “Take time to count your blessings and refuse to follow those who are adding up their troubles.”

As God loves us, He expresses that love through countless blessings we often take for granted. Be thankful God doesn’t give us what we really deserve! By the time we stop counting, our trial or crisis in life will amount to nothing and then our blessings will count.

HAPPINESS

“STOP COMPLAINING”

It may be an expression of discontentment, pride, jealousy, anger, or frustration. Complaining is a deep-seated spiritual problem and serious sin against God. We are in effect failing to trust Him and submit to His sovereign will. When we express our complaints so that others will sympathize with us, we are stealing their joy in the process - it becomes contagious!

The Power to Discriminate

The Power To Discriminate

Meditation gives me a discriminating eye - an ability to discriminate between truth and falsehood. It does this by helping me maintain a consciousness that helps me rise above competing claims to truth - the different ideologies and opinions, reasons and analyses, justifications and stories related to a situation - which can be so confusing.

The image of discrimination is the jeweler, who, with the help of his eyeglass, sorts out real diamonds from false. Meditation opens my third eye, the eye of pure consciousness. When I look at the world through this eye, truth is not just an intellectual idea, but an experience of the heart. When I think and act in ways that maintain and deepen this experience of truth, I know I am moving in the right direction. Conversely, I discover that thoughts and behaviours that cloud or hide the experience of truth are coming from falsehood, no matter how much I or others may try to justify them. So, meditation gives me a reliable basis for discriminating the value in different courses of action: will this help me recover my truth, or take me further into falsehood? Will it maintain the flow of love, peace and happiness in my heart, or will it cause a blockage? Previously, I may have been easily swayed by other people's demands and opinions, or by illusory ways of thinking arising from my own negativity. Like a good lawyer, the intellect is very clever at arguing its case, regardless of where the truth may lie. But, when truth is experienced in and from the heart, there is no arguing with it. Deeply experienced truth clears my mind of irrelevancies created due to possessiveness, greed, desires and ego. As I learn to create pure, positive thoughts, and connect with the divine, it is as though a flow of clear, fragrant water gradually displaces the mud and rubbish in my intellect, enabling me to see reality or truth again.

Repetitive Thoughts

Understanding And Overcoming Repetitive Thoughts

Repetitive thoughts are mental dependences that arise due to a badly channeled imagination, false beliefs or mental weakness. For example, this happens when the pattern of negative repetitive thoughts makes us experience continuous feelings of guilt. Or we think, almost obsessively and continuously, that someone wants to hurt us or are after us. Or we create continuous thoughts of jealousy, hatred and violence with regards to another individual. They are negative and self-destructive habits. We fall into repetitive thoughts, which make us live in constant unhappiness.

We spend a lot of time during the day with these types of unnecessary thoughts. They are leaks of energy that weaken us. We have created the habit of thinking like that and, therefore, it is in our hands to learn to change it. We can free ourselves of these dependencies and the result is to be freer, mentally, of negative and repetitive thoughts, which are like a constant hammering. It is a question of learning to control what we think, thinking positively and in a focused manner, meditating and exercising the mind. We exercise to keep the body healthy and strong; in order to have a healthy and strong mind we have to learn exercises like meditation and relaxation that help us to free ourselves from repetitive thoughts which are nothing but bad positions or postures of the mind.

LOCATION OF THE SOUL

The Location Of The Soul Inside The Body

The soul has the following basic functions to perform:

* to give life to the body and to maintain life inside it,
* to express and experience its role through the body, and
* to receive the rewards or fruits of past actions performed in previous births, through the body.

These functions are controlled and monitored by the soul via the nervous and hormonal systems from a particular point in the area of the brain which contains the thalamus, hypothalamus, pituitary and pineal glands. This region is known as the seat of the soul, or the third eye. The connection between the physical (body) and the non-physical (soul) is by the medium of thought energy. Many religions and philosophies place great importance on the third eye, or eye of the mind. When viewed from the front, this region appears to be between and slightly above the line of the eyebrows. It's for this reason that Hindus use a tilak, a dot in red or sandalwood paste in the middle of the forehead. Christians also make the sign of the cross in this region. Even when one makes a mistake or expresses tiredness it's to this region that we put the hands in the gestures of self-dismay or exhaustion. After all the soul subconsciously knows that it makes the mistakes and not the body. When people are concentrating deeply in thought it is this area of the forehead where creases or lines are formed on the skin.

Increasing Your Potential

Fear is an experience where there is anxiety, inhibition (suppression) and mistrust. Fear can lead us to aggressiveness and pessimism (a negative mindset), to depression, to illness, to defeat, to a lack of meaning in existence and, eventually, to death.

When we do not have faith in our own capacity to resist pressure or difficulties, we feel insecure, and from insecurity the doors are opened for fears to enter. Sometimes, out of a lack of experience, self-knowledge or personal development, we are not aware of all the inner resources that we have. For example, if you do not trust your capacity to float in water, you drown. The body's density allows it to float automatically. Through not believing it, not knowing, or even knowing, when you panic, your strength to resist is reduced, your breathing becomes shallow and you may drown.

We have many inner resources to be able to survive in times of crisis and many resources to live positively in times of change. We simply have to discover them, recognize them and use them with trust. Spirituality helps us in doing that.

Fear And The Law Of Attraction

You should be careful with what you are afraid of, because you can invoke (call for or attract) it.

Fear is like a magnet. If you are afraid that something will happen to you and you get obsessed about it happening, you are effectively invoking it to happen.

If you are very afraid that something might happen to you and you begin to visualize that it might happen or how it might happen, this terrifies you and it closes you into a phobia and a state of fear. What you are doing is invoking it to happen, because the power of the mind and visualization is very great. If you are afraid that you might be robbed, or of meeting with an accident, or of losing, you are invoking the robbery, the accident and the loss. Fear of rejection produces rejection.

That is how extraordinary the power of our mind is. That does not mean to say that we should not take the necessary precautions. An aged woman knows that to fall can mean her bones might break more easily. She should not be preoccupied with a fear of falling; she simply needs to apply attention and precaution when walking. But when precaution is confused with fear, it is not a healthy precaution or one that is free from worries.

Overcome Feelings Of Revenge By Changing Your Belief System

The urge for revenge and the false taste of victory or happiness related to it can only end when the belief, that others are responsible for what you feel, is seen as a false one. Only when you take full responsibility for whatever thoughts and feelings you create will it be possible to end the anger and the hatred that seeks revenge. When someone hurts me, I create a negative image of myself and the other person in my mind's eye, in different ways. I see myself and the other in a negative light, myself as a victim and the other person as a victimizer. I need to stop doing that and see myself and the other in a positive light, in the same light as before, irrespective of the negativity that the other has radiated to me. When we do that, we will stop pointing the finger at others for whatever hurt we may feel. Only when it is fully seen and accepted that someone can hurt or harm my vehicle, the physical body, but not me, the controller or driver of the vehicle, will rage and the desire for revenge stop existing inside my consciousness.

When I start seeing the person who has committed some negative action which is projected towards me, with an innocent, unbiased, untarnished vision, hatred will be transformed into love and compassion for both, me and the other person. Then it will be possible to be totally free of all judgment, criticism and any desire to seek justice and take pleasure and experience victory when justice is delivered. Only then will it be possible to rediscover true happiness in life, because as long as there is even the slightest trace of an urge to seek revenge for what someone has done to me, and the desire to experience the false happiness which is experienced when such revenge is delivered; both of which, the happiness and the revenge, are forms of subtle violence; true everlasting and deep peace, contentment and happiness can never be experienced.

Even the impossible becomes possible

Even the impossible becomes possible with determination and there is sure success.

Expression: The one who is determined is the one who never gives up in adverse situations. He is able to use all the challenges as a means for self-progress. He is never deterred with situations which seem difficult to handle, but is able to creatively bring out new ideas that help him to cross over the obstacles with ease.

Experience: Determination brings confidence in me and in my ability to achieve what I set out to achieve. I am able to remain confident and sure of my own success. This confidence gives me the encouragement not to let go half way through, but to do something till the end. With each obstacle that comes my way that seems to deter me from my path, I find myself improving and progressing, making myself better and better. So I am able to experience success constantly.

Overcome Feelings Of Revenge By Changing Your Belief System

It's worth wondering, what I need to change inside my belief system so that no feelings of revenge exist inside me for anyone irrespective of what someone has done to me. When someone harms me or insults me in any way, what is the belief that exists inside my inherent belief system that causes feelings of revenge to emerge inside me in the first place? It is the belief that 'whenever someone does something negative to me, he hurts me, he is the victimizer and I am a victim'. I need to change that to - 'no one can ever hurt me, but it's what I do with someone's negative actions, what shape I give the negative actions inside my mind, that causes me hurt, the choice lies with me'.

BLOOD PRESSURE

Fireproof yourself against high BP

Every fourth adult in India has high BP, and 1/3 don't know they do. Here's how to set it right

India is sprinting in the opposite direction from the rest of the world when it comes to incidence of high blood pressure. The World Health Organisation says, globally, the average BP went down by 2.7mm mercury among women, while increasing by 2.4mm mercury in India. In men, it has decreased by 2.3 mm mercury globally in the past three decades, but in India it's gone up by 2.2 mm mercury.

Blood pressure refers to the pressure exerted by circulating blood on the walls of blood vessels, and is one of the principal vital signs.

Hypertension (high blood pressure) puts stress on the heart and blood vessels and is one of the major preventable risk factors for premature death from cardiovascular disease worldwide. It kills 7.5 million people worldwide each year — more than AIDS, road accidents, diabetes and tuberculosis together.

But a recent Finnish study found that the right diet and lifestyle choices could cut your chances of developing high blood pressure by up to two-thirds. What's worrying is that an estimated third of people with high blood pressure have no idea they have it. There may be no symptoms until disaster strikes, so it's important to get it checked.

Most doctors agree that you have high blood pressure if your level is consistently at or above 140mmHg/ 90mmHg (which doctors refer to as '140 over 90'). The '140' refers to the systolic pressure — the maximum pressure reached when the heart beats — and the '90' figure is the diastolic pressure — the lowest level it falls to when the heart relaxes. Even within the acceptable range, it's good to go lower if you can.

A blood pressure of 135 over 85 may be 'normal' but someone with this reading is twice as likely to have a heart attack or stroke as someone with a reading of 115 over 75, say experts.

Here's how to get your pressure down and keep it there

Get moving: Exercise strengthens the heart, so we can pump more blood with less effort, thereby decreasing the force on our arteries. It also helps with shedding kilos — which in itself helps slash your blood pressure.

You should aim for 30 minutes a day of activity. It should leave you warm and slightly out of breath — brisk walking, for example.

If you can manage something more strenuous, that's great. But even easily achievable activities — walking to work instead of driving, for example — can reduce it.

Get your daily five: All fruits and vegetables are high in blood pressure-lowering nutrients, such as potassium, magnesium and fibre. Five-a-day is great (aim for handful-sized portions).

Ditch salt: The evidence that links salt to blood pressure is as strong as that linking cigarette smoking to cancer and heart disease, say doctors. Simply put, salt draws in fluid, raising the volume and pressure of blood in your arteries.

Most of the salt we eat is not what we add to food, but what is already there in foods such as bread, sauces, breakfast cereals and packaged foods. A useful guide when you're checking labels is this: more than 1.5g salt per 100g is a lot, but less than 0.3mg per 100g is little.

Go for purple: Purple-red fruits and vegetables — like aubergines and beetroot — seem to have particular blood pressure benefits. It may be because the anthocyanins they contain increase the output of nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.

Control the peg: Drinking too much will raise blood pressure over time. Heavy drinking may affect the function of muscles within the blood vessels, causing them to constrict. Keeping to recommended limits of no more that three units a day (for example, a 175 ml glass of wine), with preferably an alcohol-free day or two every week, is what's needed to help keep your rate at a healthy level.

Go for wholegrain: Swapping a refined grain cereal for a wholegrain oat one helps reduce the blood pressure readings and allows some patients to reduce or quit their medication, says a study in the Journal of Family Practice. Go for wholemeal bread and porridge, wholegrain breakfast cereals, brown rice and wholewheat pasta.
